Great News!!

We received great news this AM.....the daycare provider we were hoping for has accepted us!  She is a great lady and lives super close.  Our baby will be her 5th and last child that she will be watching so our baby will get lots of attention and still have friends to play with.  The bonus?  She lives 1.7 miles away!

More on Baby R to come soon!

Week 21

Last week was week 21 of Baby R's life.  We finally had our ultrasound and got to meet it!!  My favorite part was watching a leg or an arm on the ultrasound screen move around and feel it at the same time.  It made it feel so real!!  My least favorite part of the ultrasound was when the Dr. told us they found an echogenic focus on the baby's left ventricle of the heart.  Apparently this is a soft marker for Downs Syndrome.  The Dr did a thorough ultrasound and showed us that all the other markers for Downs were not present and that the chance our baby has Downs is around .1%.  So a small freakout session was had by me at this time!!  Now that a week has passed and I have had some time to research it and pray about it I feel 100% better than I did last Friday when we first found out.  Most of the stuff I have found online says that most babies born with an echogenic focus are totally healthy, normal babies.  Here is a link with more info:

Anyways, I like to focus on the fact that Baby R is super cute and looks like Brian!!  Only 130ish more days until we will be formally introduced!!

Isn't this the cutest baby ever?!  I can't wait to snuggle with it!!!  And no, we definitely don't know if it is a HE or a SHE.  My gut feeling is still boy though!!

Week 18

Here are some pictures of week 18.  Brian and I were in Chamberlain this past weekend to go boating on the river.  It was so hot!!  I've never been one to complain about the heat, and believe me, I'm still not complaining.  BUT....I did notice that it was HOT out and before it never really phased me.  Brian and I went for a walk on Sunday morning when it was about 85 degrees for about a mile and when we were done I was drained!!  I've never experienced being too warm in the summer I don't think!!   Good thing for the wind to keep me cool :) I'm also very grateful for the McDonald's dollar menu ice cream cones....that could become a very nasty habit for me this summer!!

Here is a picture before we went out on the boat Sunday afternoon.  Belly's getting nice and big!!

Straight up belly shot.  I feel like people can tell I'm pregnant now and not just fat :)  I was a little disappointed last week because I had a pair of shorts last summer that were HUGE on me.  I went to put them on for golf league and they wouldn't even zip :(  I guess I am getting bigger than I thought.  Time to go SHOPPING!!!

17 weeks

We've hit the week 17 mark.  Not a lot of changes happened this week.  We went to the doctor and heard the heart beat again.  It was all over the charts ranging from 150-160 and the doctor said that was actually a really good sign that the baby was healthy and active.  We could hear the "woosh" of the baby flailing around in there.  I still feel like I can feel movement but am only like 90% sure that it is the baby and not just gas  bubbles!  Clothing is becoming more of an issue.  This last week I wore a dress every day to work and was very comfortable so I am hoping to make those dresses last all summer long.  They are so much more comfortable than pants!!

We are still charging ahead with the basement.  On order this week is trim/doors, carpet and vinyl.  I am starting to get anxious to have the basement done so we can start organizing the nursery.  Just a little more patience!!

Here is a picture of me in Pierre this weekend by the river.  We were in Pierre for Jeff Hegge and Stacy Huss' wedding.  I had quite a few people ask to touch my belly throughout the night....it is already starting!!

16 Weeks

We have reached the 16 week milestone!  In my recent readings I have discovered that the baby can now hear what we are saying, so we have definitely been talking to it!  It feels kind of silly but we don't really care.  I told Brian we need to start being louder so that when the baby comes it can sleep through anything!!  Hopefully that is true :)

Here is a picture at 16 weeks.....I think I look huge!!  I am having a "big" day today I feel like. Some days I look really pregnant, other days I look totally normal.

This past week I have also been thinking that I have been feeling some movements in my belly but I cannot confirm 100% that it was actually the baby.  I am looking forward to Wednesday for my next doctor appointment!

14 Weeks

Here are some 14 week pictures.  I have really noticed a difference this past week.  That little orange sized peanut of a baby is really doing a number on my wardrobe.  I can no longer hold my pants together with a ponytail holder.....I have upgraded to belly band!!  I wore it for the first time to work on Monday and it was so comfortable!!  Definitely better than a tight waistband :)

Also this week we have made two baby advances:  we have bought a crib (at a discount....yay!) and pretty much nailed down daycare.  Two huge things off our list...what a relief!  We are still waiting to hear from Ms. Lea (a lady about a mile away who has an in-home daycare) but she sounded pretty certain she would take our little one in when it arrives.

Also this week I have migrated to the thought that we are having a boy.  I find myself calling it "he" or "him" and Brian is very adamant that I need to refer to it as "it".  I'm trying but it's hard.  So my guess is that is it probably a girl :)  Our Bible study group calls the baby "Zephyr" and my co-workers call it "Ernie"  Grandpa Kent has affectionately named it "Roger".  It is safe to say we will not be using any of those names!!

I am still feeling much better...I think it is safe to say that I am out of the morning sickness zone.  I dominated the Pizza Ranch buffet on Monday and so I feel like I can handle anything now!  I can definitely eat more than I used to be able to!  I went with my co-workers and they were astonished at how much I could eat....and the dessert pizza was so delicious that day!!  I am feeling my energy come back so that is also refreshing.  I am starting to read the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" and it makes me happy, excited, nervous and scared all at the same time.  But I feel as if I should be able to calm our child....I've actually learned quite a bit reading that book.

Now time for a bowl of ice cream :)

13 Weeks

We are officially in the 2nd trimester!!!  I think my belly proves that.
